HOW THIS WHOLE THING WORKS.. I THINK.

What do you charge?

$150 for a 90 minute indoor shoot.  That’s plenty enough time so that we don't have to rush through our session, but not so long that you want to murder me and then take a nap after.

That sounds like a sweet price for headshots.. what do I get for that?

This includes digital delivery of all photos for download in web resolution (this will typically include at least 250 photos), and 4 high-resolution, fully retouched images of your choice suitable for large prints. All of the photos on my website have been retouched.  You’ll be able to send the online gallery link out directly to your agent, friends, enemies, or frenemies if you want their collective opinions.  This is typically online and available 1-2 weeks after the shoot.

How many looks can we shoot?

As many as you’d like -- completely up to you within the time we have.  Just so you're not spending your entire time changing, I'd recommend between 2-4.  Feel free to bring more outfits though so we can choose from some options.

What should I wear?

Stick with solid colors, or subtle patterns if you can.  Ideally your clothes should be form fitting -- try to avoid anything too bulky or crazy tight. Oversized cable knit sweaters = bad!  Well fit V-neck t-shirts and tank tops = great!  Button down shirts also work well as long as they look like they cost more than $10.  But dress according to whatever type you want to be cast as.  That doesn’t mean you need a white lab coat and stethoscope if you plan on auditioning for a doctor, but think along the lines of loosely suggesting a “young professional”, “blue collar worker”, “girl next door”, "road-weary lucha libre wrestler, "or whatever else you see yourself auditioning for.

Girls: Please (please!) try to avoid shirts where bra straps or lines are excessively visible.  While this can be retouched to a degree, it's always best to simply bring another shirt if possible.

I have no idea what that means.

OK nevermind.. feel free to bring several tops and we can figure it out together before we start shooting if you like. Just try to keep your clothes as wrinkle free as possible so we don’t have to spend too much time ironing shirts.  Or just take a look at my portfolio (or any other professional headshot portfolios) for ideas of what you like or don't like.

Do pants matter?

Not really, unless you want to do 3/4 body shots.  For most sessions, it's pretty irrelevant.  Wear whatever is comfortable.

Should I even wear pants?

Yes, you should still wear pants!  Wearing pants is considered proper behavior in most developed countries.

Well that makes sense.. what about hair and make-up?

Guys: I mean.. do whatever you normally do, really.  If you want to shoot with and without facial hair, just show up with your stubble intact and bring your shaving gear.  You can shave mid-shoot when you want to change looks.  If your face or lips are usually dry, you may want to invest $3 in moisturizer and lip balm.

Gals: Just do your hair as you normally would.  If you’re worried about your hair freaking out on you in transit through this god forsaken city, you can certainly do your hair here if that’s easier.  Feel free to bring your make up kit, but starting out light is usually best (think weekend lunch date).  Some light lip gloss or light lip stick is fine.  We can add more layers as needed as we progress through looks.

Where do you shoot?

I shoot out of my apartment in midtown Manhattan at 54th St and 8th Ave.  Plenty of space for headshots, and it’s within 4 blocks of about 87 different subway lines.

Awesome. Got it.
